Respecting Genuine Emotions

The beautiful wedding photos from The Guild Inn Estate have taken a surprising turn.

"Posed shots are too staged!" "So awkward!!" "I can't do overly romantic!" 👆🏻 These were the reactions from bride Ivy and groom Allen regarding what they didn't want in their wedding photos.

So, on their wedding day, I focused on capturing emotions and the atmosphere rather than directing every pose. The approach was more "free-range" — letting things happen naturally.

The couple was happy, but as I reviewed the photos filled with big, open-mouthed laughs, I had doubts 🤔...

Photos where people laugh heartily can be tricky to decide whether to include or not because they’re often "imperfect." 💁🏻 Wide-open mouths, scrunched-up faces, and even double chins... We’d rather not include a photo than risk the couple being unhappy or even complaining about seeing an unflattering shot 😂.

However, as I looked at the laughing, candid, and expressive faces, I couldn’t bring myself to delete them. These "imperfect" photos honestly captured the wedding day's emotions. Nervously, I decided to send them to the couple.

The result... The feedback was surprisingly positive! ☀️

Ivy reminded me that while beauty is important, respecting and capturing genuine emotions is what I should truly strive for.
